Parents say a Lafayette parish bus driver has gone too far when it comes to disciplining their children. The kids are telling their parents they've been cursed at and handled roughly by the driver.
The students are not allowed to talk or make any sound on the bus. The parents signed a form agreeing to this. Parents now want him removed. "This isn't the first time he's assaulted someone. I spoke to one of the parents on my block and she said her son had also been assaulted," said Leanna Boudreaux.
Parents say they've tried calling the principal and the school board several times only to get no response. "I've actually called the school board four times and have yet to get past the secretary," said concerned mother Laurie Hodge. Boudreaux said she went to the school board's transportation office and reported what happened. "They said ok, fine, we'll take a report. Nothings ever happened," she said.
The Lafayette Parish School Board says they have no complaints on file against that bus driver. Protocol is for parents to speak to bus driver and then take the issue up with the school principal. The school board is supposed to be used as last resort. The transportation director has been out all week. He is scheduled to be back in his office, Monday.
