LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) A Sulphur man and his wife will each face a second-degree murder charge stemming from the death two years ago of a 5-year-old child.
The American Press reports that Calcasieu Parish grand jurors on Wednesday indicted 30-year-old William S. Vincent and his wife, 29-year-old Barbara V. Vincent.
Each was charged in June 2008 with second-degree cruelty to a juvenile after the death of Savannah Vincent. The child had been taken to a local hospital with blunt-force trauma to her head. She died two days later at a Lafayette hospital.
William Vincent is reportedly the child's biological father, and Barbara Vincent is her stepmother.
The Vincents posted bonds of $40,000 each after their original arrest. Judge Kent Savoie set the bonds on the new charges at $150,000 each.
