If you are seeing red everywhere don't be alarmed! Lafayette businesses are showcasing their Ragin' Cajun Spirit in the annual Homecoming Paint the Town Red Contest. Judging began at 9 this morning. This year's theme was board games as participating businesses used their creativity to come up with the best red and white displays. One business owner says a lot of creativity and teamwork goes into making a successful display.
"It's team spirt with all of the Lowry's and employee's here and we love doing it and we love feeding the judges too," said Mary Beth Lowry of Lowry's Printing & Copying.
UL Alumni Association Chairman Ross Walters says everyone has done a great job which will make it extremely hard to decide on a winner.
"We've seen a lot of dancing, a lot skits and a lot of rapping, pretty much everything you can imagine. They're really going all out this year," said Walters.
Some businesses get very competitive and have been participants for years. Medical staffing company, The Schumacher Group says it was only appropriate to do the board game "Operation" with employees costumed as game pieces.
"This is actually year number ten. Year one through eight, we've won first place," said
Kathy Comeaux of the Shumacher Group.
The winners in the business competition will be announced on the UL alumni association website at Louisianaalumni.org.
Lots of homecoming activities this week.
Tomorrow paint the town red will continue with schools competing.
Also tomorrow from11a.m. till 1p.m. The Cajun Can Care Annual Food Drive and Thursday night at 6:30 the "Yell Like Hell" pep rally at Parc International.
