NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Leaders of Louisiana's oyster industry are
expressing worries about the use of a chemical dispersant deep
underwater at the site of the BP oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Louisiana Oyster Task Force on Tuesday voted to draft a
letter to the oil giant and state and federal authorities
expressing their concerns.
Task force members are worried about the toxicity of the
chemical and the fact that there is little research on how its use
deep underwater could affect the waters along Louisiana's coast.
