MONROE, La. (AP) - The Ouachita Parish Police Jury has approved an $82.7 million spending plan that includes a $3.2 million overall deficit.
Officials say the deficit was planned as the parish works to complete several million dollars' worth of capital outlay projects.
Total revenues for the 2013 fiscal year are projected to be $79.5 million. The jury will take $3.2 million from its $70 million fund balance to make up the difference.
The cost for the parish to provide public safety is the largest expenditure next year at a projected $30 million. Expenses for a number of capital outlay improvement projects follow at about $18.7 million.
