Opelousas Teens Arrested for Burglary and Theft

Three teens are under arrest for multiple thefts in Opelousas. During the early morning hours this morning three Opelousas teenagers burglarized six vehicles in the Park Vista subdivision of Opelousas. The same three also committed a theft at WalGreens. OPD headquarters began receiving calls at 5:27am regarding the numerous burglaries, as residents awakened OPD received more calls. At 9:10am an anonymous tip along with surveillance footage led Lt Cleveland Thomas and his team to 2011 George Drive. There the officers located three teenagers fitting the description of the suspects. With the cooperation of adults present, officers were granted permission to search both the home and a vehicle. All items (bank cards, radios, speakers, cobra radar detector, wallet, ring, razor cell phone, 3 prong phone charger, condoms from wal-greens) reported stolen were located and later returned to rightful owners. The three burglars are identified as 18 year old Alec Joubert of 2011 George Dr (Park Vista), 17 year old Tristan Higginbotham of 2205 W Landry St. and a 16 year old juvenile. All were charged with six (6) counts of vehicle burglary, and theft. Higginbotham and Joubert were also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. Joubert and Higginbotham are presently in the Opelousas city jail. The juvenile has be transported to St. James Detention Ctr in Donaldsonville, La.
