Opelousas Police are questioning a person of interest in connection with a shooting death that happened early this morning.
According to Opelousas Police Chief Perry Gallow, the person being questioned by police is in custody on an unrelated charge.
Police were called to the 900 block of Truman Street around 1:30 a.m. When they arrived, 19-year-old Donnie Sam was found with three gunshot wounds, two to the torso and one to the head. Sam was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gallow said the motive for the shooting is still unknown. No weapon has been recovered.
