At 5:16pm Friday, August 14, 2012, the Opelousas Police Department was notified by a Whitney Bank employee that they had just been robbed. Officers say a white male entered the Whitney Bank on I-49 Service Rd near Creswell lane and produced a hand written note. Police say the note indicated that this was a robbery and that the had a gun, although the teller informed police that she did not see a gun. After being handed the cash, police say the suspect walked out of the bank. The suspect got away with approximately $4000.00 in cash.
Opelousas police now have a person of interest and is seeking assistance in locating 49 year old Stacey Joseph Sebastien. Sebastien is known locally and frequents horse racing venues throughout the state. If you know the whereabouts of Sebastien contact your local authorities immediatley, do not approach him.
