Opelousas Police Investigating Early Morning Shooting

During the early morning hours on Sunday, October 7, 2012, the Opelousas Police Department responded to shots being fired on the parking lot at a local business. Information was obtained that approximately 15 shots were fired from two seperate areas within a parking lot at a local business. Police arrived to a parking lot filled with people attempting to flee the scene on foot along with several vehicles also attempting to leave the scene. As police continued to obtain information, a report was received of a possible victim receiving treatment at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen area. Police responded to question the victim in an attempt to obtain new information. Some time later, Opelousas Police received a report that a second victim with gunshot wounds arrived at a hospital in Lafayette attempting to receive treatment. No suspect information has been obtained at this point as Opelousas Detectives are still collecting information and evidence in the matter.
