The Opelousas Police Department's Crime Suppression Team arrest a drug dealer for the third time in 5 months and all the arrest are felony arrest. Opelousas Police Chief Perry Gallow advises that a Lawrence Batiste of 627 Laurent Street has been arrested again this time for over an ounce of powder cocaine. Chief Gallow advises that Mr. Batiste had been arrested twice in September 2009 once on September the 5 and once on September the 20th. Chief Gallow advised that his officers gathered information about Mr. Batiste and have been conducting surveillance and gathered information about Mr. Batiste transporting powder cocaine and he was stopped on a traffic stop. Chief Gallow advised that his officers searched the vehicle and located the cocaine under the back seat. Mr. Batiste was arrested again and again charged with Possession with intent to Distribute Schedule II Drugs (Cocaine). Chief Gallow pledges to the Citizens that he and his Department will continue to eradicate the streets to remove illegal narcotics and make Opelousas a safer place to live.
