In an ongoing investigation by the Opelousas Police Department, Investigators were able to obtain enough evidence to arrest 24 yr old Jerry Shipman of Humble, Tx., in reference to two separate business burglaries. Jerry Shipman was allegedly identified along with several additional accomplices in a burglary ring that spans from East Texas through Louisiana. The burglaries were of tractor and small engine shops from Texas to Louisiana where lawn equipment was stolen having a total value exceeding $300,000. Opelousas Police became involved in the investigation after two burglaries occurred in Opelousas in the later part of 2012. A joint effort involving Opelousas Police, Lafayette Police, Louisiana State Police, and several agencies in Texas led to the arrest of several individuals involved in the burglaries. Jerry Shipman was booked into the Opelousas Police Department jail on two counts of Burglary. Arrest warrants are presently being obtained for the suspects presently being held in correctional facilities in Texas.
