Opelousas Officer Competes In K-9 Competition

The Opelousas Police Department's K-9 Officer Tyrone Davis and his partner "Vito" participated in a competition held in Jackson, LA on Friday January 25. K-9's from many correctional facilities and departments in Louisiana and Mississippi also competed in this event, and some of the listed departments used more than one K-9 in the competition. The K-9 "Vito" finished 5th of the 45 K-9's competing, while Angola received 1st and 2nd, and Dixon Correctional got 3rd and 4th.

This style of competition showcases not only the K-9 but the handler as well, who has to bond with and trust his dog. Last year Officer Davis finished 35th out of a possible 75.
