Two Opelousas men are in jail on armed robbery and firearms charges after police say they robbed a woman at the gas pump in front of a Sunset convenience store, firing a shot into the floor of her car during the incident.
On Oct. 8 at approximately 12 a.m., the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office received a call reporting an armed robbery at Jay's Convenient Store located off of Hwy. 182 in Sunset. The victim stated that while she was sitting in her car parked at the gas pump, a black male entered the back seat while pointing a revolver to her head demanding her purse. The victim stated that the suspect shot one round between the driver and passenger's seat before taking her purse. Surveillance video showed the suspect leave in a silver Cadillac, exiting the parking lot traveling south towards Sunset.
The investigation revealed the owner and driver of the silver Cadillac to be Reggie Dwaine Green, 28, 219 Richard Road, of Opelousas. The primary suspect was identified from a photo line-up to be Amos Milton, 33, 525 Joseph St., also of Opelousas.
Milton was arrested and charged with armed robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm and felony possession of a firearm. Green was arrested and charged with principle to armed robbery with a firearm and principle to aggravated assault with a firearm.
Milton is being held at the St. Landry Parish Jail with a bond of $170,000. Green is also being held in the parish jail with no bond.
