OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) - A community partnership is allowing the Opelousas Marshal's office to triple in size.

The Daily World reports City Court Judge Vanessa Harris swore in eight new officers on Tuesday, bringing Marshal Paul Mouton's force to 12.

Deputy Frank Angelle, who will oversee the new reserve offices, said the officers, seven men and one woman, are coming to the job ready to roll.

To make the new officers possible, Mouton went to the community, which he said responded generously.

Mouton said he asked 30 businesses or agencies for a donation and every one of them responded.
