OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) - State police say an Opelousas man was
killed and seven others injured in a two-vehicle crash in St.
Landry Parish.
The accident occurred just after 7 p.m. Monday on La. Highway 104 west of Opelousas.
Troopers say a sport utility vehicle driven by 40-year-old Casey Olivier struck the rear of a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old Opelousas woman. The collision caused Olivier to lose control of his SUV and strike a ditch embankment.
Investigators say Olivier was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Landry Parish coroner.
