An Opelousas man is dead after a fatal crash in St. Landry Parish. Saturday night, State Troopers say 69-year-old Edward Lanclos of Opelousas was driving a 2006 Honda Gold Wing Trike west on LA Highway 104 approaching Frank Road. For reasons still under investigation, Lanclos crossed the center line and traveled off the left side of the road. Lanclos' vehicle struck a ditch embankment which caused Lanclos to be ejected from his vehicle. Lanclos, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead by the St. Landry Parish Coroner.
It is unknown if impairment was a factor in this crash; however, routine toxicology samples have been obtained and will submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
This crash remains under investigation.
