OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) - A 68-year-old Opelousas man died when his
car hit an 18-wheeler.
State police say the accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. Friday
at the intersection of Interstate 49 and U.S. Highway 190.
The victim has been identified as Allen Espree.
Troopers say Espree was westbound on Highway 190 when the
18-wheeler driven by 38-year-old Amos Thuo of Euless, Texas, pulled
on to the highway from an I-49 exit ramp. Investigators say
Espree's car collided with Thro's trailer.
Espree was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Troopers issued Thuo a traffic citation for running a stop sign.
