An Opelousas man is arrested for breaking into Bellevue Street Baptist Church in Opelousas.

Police say the burglaries began on Oct 30, 2012 through Jan 11, 2013. Police arrested 34 year old Christopher Batiste and charged him with five counts of simple burglary. When police searched Batiste's home, they found several items (Tv's, computers, dvd players) reported stolen from the church. It was confirmed that Batiste was not a member of the church and apparently had no intentions of joining.

Batiste is well known to law enforcement, he was charged in April of 2007 for two (2) counts of simple burglary and again in Sept of 2008 for simple burglary. Batiste is known for taking electronic equipment.
