School leaders put Opelousas Junior High School on lockdown Friday morning after they heard rumors of a gun on campus.
Opelousas police say they have investigated and have found there was no substance to that claim.
But after a shooting happened last week just outside the school, police are taking no chances.
The lockdown happened around 9:15 Friday morning.
Shermaine Glaude says he began arguing with another student during gym class.
As they continued to argue Glaude says the student showed him a gun and threatened to shoot him.
Glaude says the argument escalated and got the attention of school officials who then realized the student wasn't supposed to be on campus because he was suspended.
Principal Ryan Hooks confirmed the student Glaude was arguing with was with the students who allegedly shot at Glaude a week ago at an off campus school function.
Hooks says the student who allegedly had a gun will return to school next week and that's when he plans on talking with him to learn more about what happened.
