An Opelousas doctor will become the latest inductee into the Acadian Museum's Order of Living Legends this weekend.
Dr. Glynn Granger is a native of Vermilion Parish a learned Cajun French as his first language. This proved invaluable during his medical career, as he became a translator for French-speaking patients at the charity hospitals in both New Orleans and Lafayette.
Granger later set up his surgical practice in Opelousas and practiced for 37 years before retiring 2011.
Granger remains active in local French-language events and participates in cultural exchanges with delegations and programs from France.
Granger's induction ceremony will take place Saturday at 4 p.m. At the Acadian Museum Café, located 102 East Edwards Street in Erath.
