Opelousas city employee accused of theft

A man who had just been rehired by the City of Opelousas is accused of trying to steal a $700 generator. Terrell Griffin, 38, is charged with Attempted Felony Theft. A coworker reported seeing the generator in the bed of a Griffin's company truck, according to Opelousas Police Sgt. Jody White "The employee stated that he found this to be odd based on the fact that Terrell Griffin's title does not require him to utilize a generator. The witness stated that when he checked the room where the generators are stored, he observed that the doors had been removed by unscrewing the hinges," he said.

The city recently rehired Griffin after he was accused of using a City of Opelousas fuel card for personal reasons.
