Opelousas Child Drowns Over Weekend

VINTON, La. (AP) - Authorities say 12-year-old boy from Opelousas apparently drowned in Vinton over the weekend.
Witnesses told Vinton police that Joseph Staton disappeared from a party Saturday and was found floating in swimming pool. Staton was pronounced dead at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office lead investigator Zeb Johnson said no foul play is suspected.
