Opelousas Burglar Arrested After Tip

The Opelousas Police Department’s Special Operations Division has arrested Nathan Jamal Robert, 109 S. Cane Street Opelousas, for Simple Burglary.  The arrest stemmed from two burglaries that occurred in the early morning hours on March 25, 2010.  Officers responded two Business Burglaries on Creswell Lane, one at the AT&T Store (Advanced Communications) and the other at New York Style (Urban Clothing Store).  Officers were able to gather valuable physical evidence from both scenes that would link the suspect directly back to the scenes.

On April 5, 2010 officers received a break in the case when they received information on the identity of the suspect.  Investigators conducted surveillance and were able to apprehend the suspect in the 1200 block of South Court Street.  Officers were able to positively link Mr. Robert back to both scenes.

Mr. Robert was subsequently charged with two counts of Simple Burglary and incarcerated into the Opelousas City Jail.

Again Chief would like to thank everyone who has given information that has assisted his officers with this and other investigations.  Anyone with information about a crime is asked to contact the Opelousas Police Department at (337) 948-2500 or on the TIPS LINE at (337) 942-1692
