As it relates to the shooting that took place in Opelousas on Monday, November 23, 20009 at approximately 9:27 PM. The suspect, Laudarren Jones was taken into custody on Wednesday morning at 2:33 AM. Jones was arrested without incident and charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder. Laudarren Jones will now have to wait for an appearance before a 27th Judicial District Judge. Chief Gallow would like to thank the citizens for information and the Ward I Marshal's Office for their assistance in this case. Once again, when Law Enforcement and Community work together, dangerous criminals will be taken off of the streets and place behind bars where they belong.
An Opelousas man is fighting for his life in Opelousas General Health System tonight as a result a shooting that took place on Monday night in the city. On Monday, November 23, 2009 at approximately 9:27 PM, officers was called to the 500 block of Sydney Street. The victim, a 56 year old black male told officers that two black men tried to robbed him and one of them produced a gun and shot him. It was determined the victim was shot in the left hip with a 9 MM hand gun. The name of the victim is not being released because family members has not been notified as of this date.
The victim was able to give officers a description of both suspects. Officers later located Cody Malveaux of Opelousas and as result, he was booked into the Opelousas City Jail. Cody Malveaux, 20 years old, was charged with Principal to Attempted Second Degree Murder and Obstruction of Justice.
The Opelousas Police Department need the help from the public in locating Laudarren Jones, 20 years old of Opelousas. Laudarren Jones is wanted in connection with the shooting and will be charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder.
