An online petition is circulating asking Gov. Bobby Jindal not to touch Louisiana film industry tax credits. Part of Jindal's budget proposal would remove more than 200 tax breaks and exemptions and limit incentives for the film industry. More than 2,000 people across the state and out-of-state have so far signed the petition. Many of those who live in-state say they've come to depend on the state's film industry to make a living.
In a recent KATC interview, actor and producer Marcus Brown, a Lafayette native, said Louisiana stands out among other states. "We are definitely number one on the radar in regard to the tax credit program, and we are number three in production behind California and New York," Brown said. The online petition can be found here.
