One man is dead in a crash on I-10 at the I-49 interchange. According to traffic investigators, at approximately 12:15 pm, a red Ford Explorer was traveling east on I-10 when for unknown reasons lost control. The vehicle struck a guardrail and rolled multiple times before coming to a rest between to the east and westbound lanes. There were two male occupants inside of the vehicle. One occupant was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The second occupant was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.
Lafayette Police have currently closed down the westbound lanes on I-10 and diverted traffic north on I-49. The left lane of I-10, eastbound, has also been closed to traffic.
