One Killed in Church Point Shooting

Church Point police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another in a hospital. The incident took place at 11:40 Saturday night near the corner of East Briscoe and North Main Streets. Investigators say Leon Smith and John Guidry got into an argument before shots were fired. Smith died of his wounds. Guidry remains in intensive care at a local hospital. Police did not say who fired the shots. Officials are awaiting autopsy results, and the case remains under investigation.
