One Dead, One Injured in Late Night Crash

One person is dead and one is injured after a single vehicle crash in St. Martin Parish.
The crash happened around 11:30 Saturday night in the 1300 Block of Herman Dupuis Road. Investigators say twenty-year-old Jude Barras of Parks lost control of his car, leaving the roadway, struck a culvert, and become airborne. The vehicle began flipping and Barras was ejected. The car continued to flip until it made impact with a power pole where the car came to a rest.
The passenger, eighteen-year-old Lauren Aucoin of Parks, was extricated from the vehicle and transported by Air Med to a hospital in Lafayette. The driver, Jude Barras, was pronounced dead on arrival.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
