SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Shreveport's mayor declared it "Miss

Mississippi Winn Day" as the woman nicknamed "Sweetie" turned

113.

The Gerontology Research Group says Winn is the oldest

African-American person in the United States, the oldest resident

of Louisiana, and the 11th oldest known in the world.

According to Census records, she is also the only living U.S.

resident whose parents had been slaves.

Winn was born March 31, 1897. She worked as a housekeeper all of

her life and cleaned and cooked for herself until the age of 103.

She's now living in Magnolia Manor Nursing Home, where Mayor

Cedric Glover and others celebrated her birthday Wednesday.
