LAPLACE, La. (AP) - The Coast Guard is investigating an oil spill on the Mississippi River in Louisiana.
The Coast Guard told WWL-TV that a crane barge collided with a motor vessel about 2 a.m. Friday near LaPlace.
Efforts to contain the leak began before dawn. There were no reports of injuries or how much oil from the barge spilled.
The river remained open.
