DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - The co-chair of a presidential panel
investigating the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is speaking about the disaster at Duke University.
William Reilly is scheduled to talk Monday evening about the findings of a roughly six-month investigation into the blowout and
explosion in April that killed 11 workers and spilled 200 million gallons of oil into the ocean.
The National Oil Spill Commission unanimously endorsed 15 recommendations last week for the oil industry, Congress and the Obama administration. They include increased budgets for regulators, increased liability for offshore drilling companies and
more money for environmental restoration in the Gulf.
The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are
required.
