Oil & Gas Blowout in Assumption Parish has Stopped on its own

PAINCOURTVILLE, La. (AP) - State police say an oil and gas
blowout in Assumption Parish has stopped on its own.
Trooper Bryan Zeringue (zuh-RANG') tells The Advocate that are
preparing to cap the well from the surface while the flow is
stopped.
Zeringue said the exploratory well northwest of Paincourtville
(PAN'-koor-vil) "bridged," or likely filled in with sand early
Tuesday.
The Mantle Oil and Gas LLC well had been spewing oil, gas,
brine, sand and other materials into the air since early on Aug.
11.
The well is located in the middle of large and relatively
isolated agricultural area west of Bayou Lafourche.
