DELHI, La. (AP) - Poverty Point Reservoir State Park at Delhi, which already featured cabins built over the lake and a top-tier golf course, has now opened a new 17-room, $1.3 million lodge.
The Black Bear Lodge opened Friday just in time for the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The opening drew state officials including Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne, who called it "one of Louisiana's crown jewels."
Dardenne's office oversees the state parks system.
State Sen. Francis Thompson of Delhi said the lodge will complement Black Bear Golf Course. He told The News-Star that the park helps shine a light on the beauty and resources of rural
northeastern Louisiana.
