Lafayette Parish School Board officials say someone associated with Lafayette High School has entered a local hospital with symptoms consistent with tuberculosis. Administrators say they are now taking preventative steps to deal with the possible TB case. They say they have met with faculty and staff and have notified parents about the situation. They also say they will keep students, parents, and school personnel abreast of any new developments.
Tina Stefanski with the Office of Public Health says her office notified Lafayette High officials earlier that it was investigating the possible tuberculosis case. Stefanski says test results confirming whether or not this is a case of TB will not return for several weeks. Stefanski says there are currently no other suspected cases of TB at Lafayette High School.
