NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Sheriff Marlin Gusman of New Orleans won't face the media until Thursday.
His testimony in a federal hearing on conditions at the New Orleans jail, which had been expected Wednesday, is now expected Thursday morning. Gusman said he will meet with reporters after his testimony.
Earlier Wednesday, a New Orleans deputy mayor said Gusman is to blame for reckless inmate behavior caught on videos that showed inmates using drugs and brandishing a handgun in a cell.
Another video among those released a day ago showed a New Orleans man wandering the French Quarter, claiming he was supposed to be locked up at the time.
