Officers return from NASRO training

Officers from the Lafayette Police Department and Sheriff's Office just returned from an annual training session in California.

The National Association of School Resource Officers, or NASRO, training is a national conference where officers learn the best ways to keep schools safe and running smoothly.

The information at the training comes from techniques that work best for schools across the country. Director of Health and Wellness Bradley Cruice from the Lafayette Parish School System says NASRO is an effective program, and the proof is in the schools.

"It was a great opportunity to send our safety officers and our resource officers to receive the same training, bring that back, and implement it in our schools to make our schools a safer learning environment," says Cruice.
