Nine police officers have filed a federal lawsuit against Lafayette Consolidated Government and two Lafayette Police Department superiors, including Chief Jim Craft. The plaintiffs claim their lawsuit reveals matters of grave public concern. The officers allege unfair reprisals, retaliation, and retribution for violating what they call the "Code of Silence." The officers' lawyers, Stephen Spring and Chris Alexander, say they expect more officers to join the lawsuit as the case progresses.
