A Crowley dog is in stable condition after being shot by officers responding to a burglary, police said.
According to Chief K.P. Gibson, Crowley Police were called by the homeowner Thursday at 10:30 p.m. to a burglary in progress in the 100 block of Blue Bonnet Drive.Police report that a dog at the residence became aggressive and was shot by a responding officer. Gibson stated that the dog was transported for treatment by Crowley Animal Control to Lafayette Animal Emergency Clinic.
Crowley Police Department policy requires an internal review into all discharges of weapons by officers and has opened an internal review into this matter, according to Chief Gibson.
