The Mamou Police officer who tased a mentally disabled woman in Mamou resigned today.

A Disciplinary meeting was called Tuesday by the Chief Of Police and Mayor of Mamou concerning the incident.

On May 19, 2012 Stacey Taylor was tased and arrested for disturbing the peace and tampering with a neighbor's property.

The family disputes the charges, but they don't dispute that she was uncooperative with police.

Despite that, they take issue with use of the taser because Taylor is mentally disabled.

Officer Brent Zachery submitted his resignation
effective immediately. At this point the file will be completed and forwarded to The District Attorney's office in Ville Platte for review. The matter is still considered under investigation.
