Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations is investigating a shooting involving officers from the Welsh Police Department in Jefferson Davis Parish.
According to State Police, on November 18, at 11:30 p.m., officers with the Welsh Police Department stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Beaufort Street near its intersection with North Adams Street in Welsh. The driver of the vehicle allegedly brandished a handgun and was shot by the officers. The driver was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his wounds. The subject was subsequently transported to LSU Hospital in Shreveport for further treatment.
Neither the name of the subject nor the names of the officers involved is being released at this time, according to State Police.
No officers were injured during the encounter. This case remains under investigation.
