A New Orleans police officer has been placed on emergency suspension after being arrested for a hit-and-run last fall. 38 year old Officer Roger Jones surrendered to Public Integrity Bureau investigators Monday afternoon. He was arrested and immediately suspended without pay for allegedly disregarding a traffic signal, driving recklessly, hitting a parked car and fleeing from the scene. No one was injured. The incidents happened in September of 2011.
The Public Integrity Bureau is currently conducting an administrative investigation into the allegations. Most recently, Jones was a Quality of Life officer for the 8th District. He has been with the NOPD for 14 years.
