Off-track Betting Construction Moves Forward

The project to convert an old Walmart in St. Martinville into an off-track betting site is moving forward.

Last week we reported Evangeline Downs asked the city to hold off on the project until March 2010, but the company has since had a change of heart and the contract has been signed by both parties.

Evangeline Downs will spend $1.4 million on renovations. A construction meeting will be held next Tuesday.
