OBERLIN, La. (AP) - A grand jury in Allen Parish has indicted an Oberlin man in the June shooting death of a man family members say was his friend.
The American Press reports 48-year-old David Bourg was indicted Monday on second-degree murder in the shooting death of 48-year-old Michael Pitre, also of Oberlin.
Police say Pitre was found slumped over in the passenger seat of a vehicle by his brother with a gunshot wound to the head.
Allen Parish Chief Criminal Deputy Ricky Johnson says officers observed Bourg standing by the rear of a truck parked in the middle of the road with a weapon.
Johnson says Bourg allegedly pointed the weapon at an officer, then held the gun to his head. Officers heard a snap, but said the gun did not fire.
