Thursday evening's storms produced gusty winds of 30-40mph across many areas of Acadiana with just a few isolated areas of strong winds, and one area where a tornado formed.
The National Weather Service surveyed damage left by Thursday night's storm in Evangeline Parish where trees and power poles where snapped near and just east of the Vidrine area along LA-10.
The survey revealed that a storm likely produced and EF1 tornado on the Enhanced Fujita Scale with roughly 90mph winds.
The 75 yard wide tornado traveled roughly west to east for nearly 2.75 miles damaging several barns and garages, with generally light damage to 10-20 homes.
Seven power poles were snapped along with some fallen trees and large branches.
A tree fell on a home trapping 3 people inside but were rescued without injury.
After the storm nearly 1,500 homes were temporarily with out power.
This was the only documented severe weather report in Acadiana from Thursday evening's storms.
