Number of state-owned vehicles drops in La.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Gov. Bobby Jindal's administration has
cut the state-owned vehicle fleet by more than 1,000 cars, trucks
and vans over the last year.
The administration says that's the lowest level since the
2003-04 fiscal year - but it's still short of an administration
goal to trim the number of state-owned vehicles by 10 percent.
The governor's top budget adviser, Commissioner of
Administration Paul Rainwater, announced Tuesday the number of
vehicles that Louisiana agencies and public colleges have at their
disposal stands at 11,739 - compared to 12,740 at this time last
State Division of Administration spokesman Michael DiResto said
cabinet departments as a group did meet the 10 percent goal for for
passenger vehicles and light trucks.
