"I was like man, Coach Lee, I wanna play football man!"
Northwest High Junior Brittany Lindon had the idea in her head for a while and at the urging of friends decided to give it a shot.
"I thought she was joking around, but then she continued to ask me during spring practice and I said well if you're serious about it come out," says Head Coach Darnell Lee.
First Lindon was offered the opportunity to kick for the football team, but when that didn't work out so well she opted for a more hands on role.
"My legs are too short to be a kicker. They strong, but they too short, so I'd rather run with the ball."
"I told her if you wanna play fullback, I'll give you an opportunity."
At 5'4", 190 lbs, Lindon has the size and strength for the backfield.
"They hit her hard, but she get right back up and be ready for the next play," says teammate Sadrian Jackson.
Coach Lee says players have embraced their female teammate and practice is business as usual.
"She comes out you don't know she's here she's like everybody else, she goes to her position and works hard."
"She got the strength that we have so I don't treat her no differently," says Jackson.
Through four games Lindon has gotten a few carries, but her goal is to cross that goalline.
"I just wanna score a touchdown, that's it."
