Northside's Devan Clark Leaves For Southern Lab

After eight years, four Top 28 appearances and two Coach of the Year awards, Devan Clark is going home. The longtime Northside High boys basketball head coach accepted the same position at his alma mater Southern Lab in Baton Rouge on Friday.

Clark led the Vikings to the 2013 Class 4A State Championship game before falling to district rivals St. Thomas More. The Vikings were semifinalists in 2007, 2011 and 2014.

In his eight seasons, Clark amassed a 209-45 record as well as the 2007 and 2013 LSWA Class 4A Coach of the Year awards.

Clark graduated from Southern Lab in 1997 after helping the Kittens to five straight Class 1A titles during his high school career. He then played four years at Southern University averaging 8 points and 4.8 assists. After college, he returned to Southern Lab as an assistant coach, helping guide the Kittens to three state titles.
