Northside High School Principal Melinda Voorhies has rescinded her resignation after abruptly leaving school Wednesday. "She initially intended to resign as a result of an unfortunate misunderstanding," Superintendent Dr. Pat Cooper said in a press release. The superintendent is not releasing details about the "misunderstanding," but said in the release that he's pleased with Voorhies' decision to stay. "Ms. Voorhies has many gifts and has done a phenomenal job at NHS and made a positive impact on the students, parents and community."
According to the release, Cooper and Voorhies met and mutually agreed to work together to avoid similar miscommunications in the future. "I love the Northside High School community, and I appreciate Dr. Cooper's support for our work there. I look forward to continuing the work we've begun in creating a school that
inspires our students to achieve and succeed," said Voorhies.
