Louisiana State Police are looking for a vehicle that took place in a non-contact hit and run.
The incident took place Saturday, April 19, around 10:22 p.m. on US Hwy 90 eastbound, when an unknown vehicle allegedly drove in the path of a black 2006 Mercedes Benz.
The Mercedes, traveling at a high speed, in the left lane of Hwy 90, attempted to avoid the unknown driver. This caused the Mercedes to steer left, travel on to the median and strike a culvert; resulting in the Mercedes overturning.
The overturned vehicle caught fire with the driver inside. Once the fire was extinguished, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the Iberia Parish Coroner.
It is unknown if the driver of the Mercedes Benz was wearing a seat-belt when the crash occurred, nor is there any information on if the driver was impaired.
Toxicology samples have been taken from the driver of the Mercedes.
Troopers are working to notify the next-of-kin for the driver of the Mercedes.
Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call State Police at 337-262-5880 or *LSP (*577).
