The Lafayette Charter Commission decided not to vote for a one year term extension for the City-Parish Council and President.
The idea was originally proposed to buy the commission some time to implement any changes they might make to the home-rule charter.
Bruce Conque had originally proposed it, but took the proposal off the table Monday night, because if they had been successful and put it before voters, that would be the conclusion of the commission's deliberations. They're only around for nine months or when one propositon goes before voters.
The next meeting is coming up in two weeks.
